Obesity and Sleep Apnea

Obesity has been associated with sleep apnea. The effects of sleep apnea over time can be life threatening. Proper diagnosis of sleep apnea is needed to properly treat the condition. A sleep study would be needed. Our office works closely with the sleep center at Lutheran General Hospital. An oral device can be fabricated to treat the condition by itself or in combination with a C-pap machine to relieve the symptoms of sleep apnea. Our office conducts a specific sleep apnea oral examination to identify and treat the oral contribution to sleep apnea. Only when all of the contributing factors are identified can sleep apnea be effectively treated.
