This condition is caused by a fungal infection. It is most common among denture wearers, patients with a compromised immune system, medication to suppress the immune response to organ transplants, and long-term antibiotic usage.
Oral thrush causes red sore areas in the mouth and tongue. Special anti-fungal medications and rinses are needed to treat the condition. Special instructions are needed if the dentures (full or partial dentures) are infected.
